United Way of East Central Iowa a few years ago switched from a traditional model of fundraising to a community impact model… what does that mean?

Let’s start with the big picture…

There are a number of community issues. We can’t focus on them all. We focus on three:

1) Health issues
2) Financial stability issues … and …
3) Education issues

Then there are agencies in the community that work on solving problems.

We focus on partnering with the ones that also focus on our three areas of impact.

Then there’s the population at large.

Then there’s us.

We connect the general population with our community partners. But that’s not it…. we also review and analyze the big picture.

We look at what works, the system-wide needs and try to find solutions to issues.

So then we share what we know with the public, our partners and of course you.
