The number of homeless persons served by Linn County Emergency Shelters and Transitional Housing Programs increased over 37% within the past five years (2006-2010).

 

 

 

 

 
• In the 2008-2009 academic year, over 1,700 students in Linn County were served through homeless liaison programs.
• 63% of the students served by homeless liaison programs were “doubled up”, meaning living with another friend, family, relative, etc.
• Over 2,500 families are on a waiting list for the Housing Choice Voucher Program.
• 200 individuals/families are on waiting lists for transitional housing programs.
• 82% of homeless families served in Linn County in fiscal year 2010 were female headed.
