LIVE UNITED by Supporting Children!

Americans have spoken and the consensus is out: improving education is a community responsibility. Today, fewer Americans are likely to earn a diploma than their parents, a distinction not shared by any other industrialized country.

You can help change that. United Way of East Central Iowa has worked with community partners to identify 500 local volunteer opportunities to read, tutor or mentor youth. Sometimes kids just need an adult who believes in them.

Click here to browse open volunteer opportunities! Nearly 500 caring individuals are needed as readers, tutors and mentors. Learn what volunteers do, and the agencies and schools in which they serve. When you find an opportunity that matches your availability and interest, click Register. The volunteer coordinator at that agency will contact you soon with more details!

Join United Way and come together with friends, family, and neighbors to show the power of Living United. Volunteer reading, tutoring, or mentoring one hour each week can change the life of a child. If one million of us do it, it will change America.
