Our goal: Increase the number of financially stable households by 15%.

Did you know:  Over 5,300 households in Linn County do not earn an income sufficient to meet their family’s basic needs.

When more families are financially stable they will provide for their family’s basic needs and provide a foundation for their children to become productive adult citizens.

We invest in programs that:

Support families’ essential needs:

  • 1,583,923 pounds of food was distributed within the community.
  • Over 5,200 individuals accessed emergency shelter, transitional housing, and/or rent/utility assistance.

Reduce barriers and increase individual and family resilience:

  • 977 low-income individuals had their taxes prepared by a qualified volunteer for free, totaling $1,644,668 in federal tax return and Earned Income Tax Credits.

Support individuals in developing and expanding skills needed to increase their earning:

  • 235 individuals received adult basic education services.

Support individuals in obtaining and maintaining employment.

  • Over 1,700 individuals received work support services.

Our goal: Increase healthy choices by 10%

Did you know? More than 32,000 people in our service area are uninsured.
When low-income, uninsured persons are connected with affordable, regular healthcare then they are more likely to:

  • Receive preventative care
  • Reduce health risks
  • Are diagnosed and receive treatment at an earlier stage of disease
  • Live a longer, healthier life

We invest in programs that provide:

  • 17,274 mental health crisis, individual and family counseling
  • 12,000 oral disease screenings for youth
  • 1,237 substance abuse prevention for youth
  • 1,089 prescriptions filled for low-income women
  • 200 preventative health screenings for women

Our goal: Increase the number of older adults who are able to meet their daily needs by 25%

Did you know? The number of people over the age of 65 in Eastern Iowa will grow 42% in the next ten years.
When caregivers and older adult agencies are supported then older adults are able to maintain their health and independence.

We invest in programs that provide:

  • 2,700 with a nutritious meal
  • 2,100 completed chore projects
  • 1,900 with case management services
  • 1,500 with medical transportation
  • 1,200 with social activities that reduce isolation
