Leslie Wright, United Way of East Central Iowa’s vice president of Community Building, participated on a panel in Des Moines on Oct. 14, 2013, called Communities Multidisciplinary Response to ACEs. More than 600 people including national leaders Dr. Anda, Laura Porter, and Dr. Burke Harris attended the sold out 2013 Iowa Adverse Childhood Experiences Summit.

United Way of East Central Iowa, along with more than 40 partners, are building solutions to help more kids grow up well-educated, resilient and hopeful. Since 2012, United Way has hosted a Summit about Aces and community conversations. With partners like school districts, hospitals, churches and human service agencies, United Way has goals to help prevent adversity for kids like abuse, crime and toxic stress and treat its effects.
