Over 1,900 Items Collected on Day of Caring 2013 Personal Care Items Drive

Fill the Tub

Thanks to everyone who donated, we were able to fill the tub four times on May 9, 2013 as part of Day of Caring.  We collected 1,945 personal care items that will be donated to United Way partner agencies: ASACFoundation 2 and the Catherine McAuley Center.

Many of the clients who come to stay at these agencies don’t have the items they need to take care of their most basic needs. Most Americans take for granted that they have a toothbrush or soap, but imagine if you didn’t.

United Way had bath tub in front of the Human Services Campus, 317 7th Ave. SE, Cedar Rapids, and people stopped by to help us fill the tub with personal hygiene items.

Below is a list of items collected:

  • Toothbrush
  • Toothpaste
  • Soap
  • Body wash
  • Shampoo/Conditioner
  • Deodorant
  • Lotions
  • Facial Tissue
  • Toilet Paper
  • Baby Wipes
  • Diapers of all Sizes
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Disposable razors
  • Shaving cream
  • Combs and hair brushes

Cakes by Christopher, of the New Bo Market, supplied us with coupons to hand out to those who stop at United Way and make a donation on May 9.

Thank you to Habitat for Humanity’s Restore for donating a tub to fill for the day.
