Food assistance funds boost spending in local communities

| February 7, 2012 | 0 Comments

When companies and  people contribute to United Way, families get connected to resources that also boost our local economy.

Food assistance helps more than just the families that directly receive benefits. It also benefits local businesses and the community at large.

For every dollar received in food assistance, it generates $1.50 in community spending.

For local grocery stores that means that families planning to buy food with their assistance funds will spend an additional amount of other funds in purchases at the store.
