Our Vision
United Way of East Central Iowa is the trusted leader and catalyst for envisioning and creating positive community change. Our Mission
Unite the caring power of communities to invest in effective solutions to improve people’s lives.

Our Priorities
Advancing the common good and creating stronger communities means focusing on the building blocks for a better life – Education, Income and Health. By addressing the root cause of community problems in these areas, we can get real results and create lasting, positive change. UWECI has established five Focus Areas that are essential to well-being. In 2010, the board of UWECI endorsed
five-year community goals in each of these five areas. UWECI will
provide funding opportunities that align with these goals. Our Community Goals in each Focus Area:
Start Strong: Early Childhood Development and Care
Increase the number of low-income kindergarteners who are ready for school by 50%.

Grow Strong: Positive Youth Development
Increase the number of low-income youth with 21st century skills by 25%.

Stay Strong: Financial Stability
Increase the number of financially stable households by 15%.

Stay Strong: Health
Increase healthy choices for eastern Iowans by 10%.

Stay Strong: Independence
Increase the number of older adults who are able to meet their daily needs by 25%.
