United Way is partnering with a number of organizations and programs to help more children access nutritious meals during the summer.

The “Summer Food Service Program” is a federally funded entitlement program that works to ensure that children continue to receive nutritious meals during the summer months.

Nearly 13,000 Linn County children are eligible for free and reduced lunch.  In 2013, approximately 725 Linn County children participated in summer meals daily, serving only about six percent of youth who are eligible for this program. That is why eight partnering organizations increased the number of locations to offer more meals across Linn County this summer.

Call United Way 2-1-1 if you have further questions about a meal site.
